gestures and sketches comin

here is a another installment of sketches coming out of several sketchbooks started over the last 3 years- hope everyone enjoys the half finished stuff- I do-

a horror trend is starting

my last post was an attempt at the wolfman- this time is "Daybreakers" a down under ( australian) production of vampire movie- i tried to sketch the lead character but did not get the features right- I like this anyway- my method on this one is to sketch an face in photoshop- and cover it up in black and gray tone shading ( with layers at lower opacity- to see the drawing)- flatted the finished grey/black tone and then used color masks on three top layers- each with solid color levels ( red, blue, green) sort of like how people print- I set these layers as Multiply at varying layer opacity- gives it a cool feel- i think- rate this when you can- peace.

another Character concept dump

This is a concept head design for a series i am thinking about called Heros of the Old testament- its sort of quirky but I like it- again still need to work on my digital painting- very rough- but the image is useful if i want to take into a 3d program- hmmm

character concepts

here is where I need assistance- presentation- I think my process of selection for FX mulrooney 3d is cool- but I need to be able to show it more dynamically- if anyone has any suggestions- I am game- but my next step is to model the character from the ortho views

just playing around with photoshop

this is a try at using Photoshop alone as a character design medium- the process on doing this face was to rough sketch it on one layer- clean up on second layer- erase the initial sketch layer and flat shade colors underneath the cleaned up line sketch- i then merge layers together and start erasing the lines by painting joining flat colors over it ( 100% opacity/100%flow)- I know that lines are really made up of changes in clors or hue or gaps where shadow sinks in- so forming them with color looks natural-- soft transitions are made wiith the healing brush aperpendicular to color lines and smudge parlallel to them- well here it is anyway- forget what i just said....
